UPDATE: Driver cited for bus crash on I-29 south of Fargo

Near Kindred, N.D. (Valley News Live) Update (6:50 p.m.) A Charter bus driver was cited by highway troopers for an accident that happened south of Fargo Wednesday night.

Dale Curfman, 84, failed to negotiate at the end of the construction zone near mile marker 45 on I-29 and struck several crash barrels, according to North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The wreck only caused minor damage to the bus, but it severed the bus's brake lines disabling the vehicle.

The crash barrels were destroyed and debris was sent to both north and southbound lanes, according to troopers.

Troopers said five passengers suffered minor injuries.

Curfman was issued a citation for care required.

(Original) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a bus crash along the interstate south of Fargo.

It was called in just before midnight and happened near the Kindred exit on Interstate 29. A Valley News Live viewer says he saw a bus in the ditch.

Authorities tell Valley News Live a bus carrying 28 people back from the casino in Hankinson hit a construction barrel, prompting the crash.

That caused other cars on the interstate to hit the debris left behind.

No one was taken to the hospital, although a few people were checked out by paramedics on scene.

It's unknown at this time if the driver will be cited.
