BISMARCK, N.D. - (Valley News Live) North Dakota lawmakers are entering the second week since the start of the legislative session in Bismarck.
One bill making its way through the senate involves school safety.
Senate Bill 2052 would allow school districts to create a safety plan fund.
“It’s not designed to be a cure all overnight,” Rep. Mark Owens, R-District 17, said.
Owens added, “It’s designed to give them the ability to not only build their own school safety plan and then fund part of their safety plan. But… the operations and maintenance of it going forward, and to enhance it as new technologies come out.”
Rep. Owens is a co-sponsor of the bill.
Owens said voters would have the final say on a district plan.
SB 2052 was heard before the Senate Education Committee last week.
