More teens turning to plastic surgery, doctors warning about dangers behind procedures

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live)- Teenagers as young as 13 are increasingly turning to plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures to help alter their appearance.

In fact, nearly 230,000 cosmetic procedures were performed on patients ages 13 to 19 in 2017.

Lip augmentations, breast lifts and liposuctions are among the more popular procedures. But plastic surgeons are warning these serious procedures can cause infections and other complications.

Surgeons even say teenagers may get dependent on doing these things and it may create a body dysmorphia or a poor image of themselves.
