Moorhead woman arrested after police say she punched him in the face

Moorhead Police say just after 1:00 Tuesday afternoon, they recognized a woman driving who had active warrants.

Police were able to pull the woman over in the 400 block of 2nd Avenue south. Police say when they walked up to the woman's vehicle, she tried putting the car in drive. The woman then apparently moved to the passengers side of the vehicle and took off on foot. The officer was able to catch her a short time later. Police say that is when the woman punched the officer in the face and was also able to kick the officer in the chest. At the time of the traffic stop, a 9-year-old boy was in the vehicle.

30-year-old Nicole Marie Gonzales of Moorhead was taken to the Clay County Jail. The 9-year-old boy was released to family members. Gonzales is facing charges of felony 4th degree assault on a Peace Officer, Gross Misdemeanor Obstructing the Legal Process, Misdemeanor Driving After Revocation and Misdemeanor Fleeing on Foot.

Gonzales also had 3 active warrants.
