This month marks the five year anniversary since NDSU freshman Tom Bearson went missing and was found murdered three days later in an RV lot in Moorhead.
Despite hundreds of tips to Moorhead Police, there have yet to be any arrests made. Moorhead Deputy Chief Tory Jacobson tells Valley News Live every tip has been investigated thoroughly, but says it's in the case's best interest to keep much of the investigation under wraps.
Early Monday morning Valley New Live obtained the death certificate for Bearson, which states Bearon died of asphyxia, meaning he was deprived of oxygen. Until today, the public only knew Bearson died as a result of homicidal violence.
Along with alcohol, there were also two prescription medications in Bearson's system. The death certificate states there was alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug also known as Xanax, as well as temazepam, a sedative usually used to treat insomnia.
Jacobson says this continues to be an active investigation.
