NBC - The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in the US.
According to a new study released by Babson College, 27 million Americans are starting or running new businesses.
In fact 64 percent of Americans believe there are good opportunities for starting a business near or where they live.
That's the highest level reported since the global entrepreneurship monitor started in 1999.
Additionally, 63 percent of Americans believe that entrepreneurship is a good career choice, with 86 percent of start-up activity motivated by opportunity.
Minority entrepreneurs represent approximately one third of US startups.
