Man arrested for firing shots in West Fargo apartment

A man is in custody this morning after police say he fired a gun at a woman in a West Fargo apartment.

West Fargo Police responded to a disturbance Monday night involving gun shots being heard.

It happened around 10:20 p.m. at the 3400 Block of 5th St. West.

While officers responded to this call, dispatch received another call that a bullet had just went through a house in the Shadow wood residential area.

Officers then set up a perimeter around the apartment building on 5th Street West.

The information that was gathered by officers was that a male had fired a gun at a female inside the apartment and followed her outside and fired the gun again.

Officers tried to make contact with the suspect but were unsuccessful.

Red River Valley SWAT Team was called out at this point to assist in the incident.

During this time, contact was made inside the apartment with another resident. The resident was able to leave the apartment and talk with officers.

Officers were then told that the suspect was passed out in the living room. Officers entered the apartment and detained the suspect.

Officers then placed the suspect, Chad Andrew Ralph, 44 years of age, from West Fargo under arrest for Reckless Endangerment and Preventing Arrest.

A handgun was located inside the residence.

The home at Shadow Wood Lane had three occupants inside at the time the bullet had entered the residence, however no one was injured. It’s believe the two incidents are related.

The SWAT Team was told of the details while in route and then were cancelled.

West Fargo Police was also given assistance by the Cass County Sheriff’s Department and FM Ambulance.

The investigation continues at this time with possible further charges to follow.
