New details emerge in Hornbacher's shooting

UPDATE: The Clay County Attorneys filed several charges against the man they say was involved in a Moorhead shooting outside of Hornbacher's.

23-year-old Kevin Demetri Blocker of New Brighton, MN is now facing two counts of 1st degree attempted murder, one count of first degree assault, two counts of 2nd degree assault, one count of attempted aggravated robbery, felon in possession of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm within city limits.

Court documents say Moorhead Police were dispatched to the south Moorhead Hornbacher's around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2nd, for reports of a gunshot.

When police arrived on the scene, a female told officers that somebody had shot her car window out. A male juvenile, who was a passenger in the car, lifted up his shirt and told officers he had been shot in the abdomen.

The two victims told officers that while in the grocery store parking lot, a black male pulled up next to their vehicle. The female victim stated that the male suspect had a pistol in the front area of his pants.

When asked what the suspect was doing, the woman says the man walked up to her car and pointed his gun at her car. She says the suspect fired a round into the car before she could drive away.

The juvenile who was shot in the car told police that as the gunman walked up to the vehicle pointing his gun, he demanded that the passengers give them "his s***."

The juvenile said a struggle for the gun ensued and the assailant stepped back and fired into the car.

The male victim told police that the shooter was trying to steal marijuana from him. He also told investigators that he regretted not handing it over, as it may have prevented him from being shot.

One witness told police said they had set up the marijuana deal on social media.

A search warrant was executed the following day at a Moorhead home where Blocker had been staying. There, officers found a pistol hidden in a bedroom wall.

Court documents go on to say that a bullet was also later found lodged in a seat belt in the car that was shot at, as well as some dried blood.

Blocker's bail was set at $750,000 with conditions or $1 million without conditions.
