GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) A 22-year-old Grand Forks man is facing several felony charges following a highway pursuit that led to property damage.
Drew Brooks Jr. was arrested by police early Sunday morning after an officer used a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver to stop his car on Interstate 29 near the Alerus Center, according to the Grand Forks Police Department.
Police said it all began Saturday at 11:44 p.m. when officers responded to a domestic violence complaint at 3920 Garden View Dr.
Brooks was found by police in his car at the apartment complex’s parking lot.
As opposed to stopping his car, Brooks reportedly fled from the officer.
He sideswiped a parked car, hit a street sign, and struck a traffic signal during the pursuit, according to police.
Brooks reportedly got onto I-29 driving southbound until his car was eventually stopped by authorities.
Police said no one was injured in the chase.
Brooks Jr. has been charged with domestic violence, fleeing in a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police said Brooks was also cited for open container and no liability insurance.
