MN Natl. Guard soldier memorialized in his son's newborn pictures
A Minnesota National Guard Soldier from Perham, MN never got to meet his son, but he will forever be memorialized with his son in the child's newborn pictures.
Charles Nord died just over two months ago in a Blackhawk helicopter crash.
His wife, Kaley, was pregnant when Charles died.
Baby Jack Charles Nord was born February 11th.
While the family is still mourning the loss of Charles, friend and local photographer Sarah Jean says was able to capture "a glimpse into their lives."
She says it was a heart breaking experience, but at the same time she could feel all the love, joy, pain, and sorrow that is wrapped around a new baby under these circumstances.
Sarah Jean says she considers the Nord family to be friends. She has done family photo sessions with the family before.
The picture of Charles that was "cloned" into Jack's newborn pictures were from a session Sarah Jean did with the family after their daughter Lydia was born.
*Kaley Nord gave the photographer approval to share her story and the pictures.
Facebook Post from Photography by Sarah Jean:
Kaley and family welcomed Jack Charles Nord into the world On February 11, 2020.
Just over two months ago, Kaley lost her husband and her children lost their dad to a Black Hawk crash in Minnesota.
With open arms Kaley invited me into her home to capture some images of newborn Jack, Lydia and the three of them together.
I was able to take a glimpse into their lives, as heart breaking as it was, I could feel all the love, joy, pain, and sorrow that is wrapped around a new baby under these circumstances.
Kaley is so strong. How do you swim in mementos that are everywhere? How do you not fall apart when the love of your life just vanishes? It is just not fair. Trying to balance the feelings of pain and loss while going forward with your everyday life seems so impossible to me.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18
I hope these images can help with your grieving process. I will continue to pray for you and your babes. Thank you for sharing your family with me, Kaley. Kaley Faye Lisa Ratz
