Some Fargo first graders are showing their appreciation for the men and women who've served our country.

Students at Longfellow Elementary School learned on Thursday about military service and what it means to be a veteran.

As part of their lesson, the students put their creativity to work by making cards for local veterans.

"I want to put like things like for stars and put things like white and blue and red because they are american colors and like a ribbon," Habor McCamy, a first grader, said.

The students will be visiting the VA hospital in Fargo on Friday to deliver the handmade cards and American flags as a gesture to thank those who have served.
