Legendary sportscaster Jim Adelson passes away at age of 91

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Valley News Live) - A North Dakota Broadcast Legend has died.
We here at Valley News Live are sad to say that Jim Adelson passed away yesterday at the age of 91 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

For two and a half decades, Adelson was a television fixture in the Red River Valley on KXJB, Channel 4. Before that, he worked at KCJB television in Minot.
His career included numerous high school championship games, North Dakota State University Bison Sports and University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux Hockey.

Adelson was one of a kind. He worked at a time when broadcasters were known for their personality. He had a personality that separated him from other broadcasters in his day. In 1990, he was elected to the North Dakota Sportscasters and Sportswriters Hall of Fame.

He was an avid golfer. Family members tell us he played once a week near his home in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Adelson organized the first KX Amateur Golf Tournament in 1964. It's a tournament that we are proud to say continues today.

Jim Adelson has his three children—Sally, Tom and Steve. They all live in Arizona. Funeral arrangements are pending.
