Jeff Muralt has been part of Hope Incorporated’s recreation program for the past five years.
“This program is changing lives," Muralt said. "Not only with kids but with the adults, and they're loving it. It's good to have something like this to go to.”
Muralt took to the field Wednesday evening to help take on Fargo’s Legion Post #2 baseball team at Miracle Field in South Moorhead.
It was an adaptive softball game meaning that everyone who played were in wheelchairs.
"These players are folks who have just ended up in wheelchairs," said Bill Grommesh, Recreation Director for Hope Inc. "They're not giving up on competitive sports and they’re not giving up on life. It's a great bunch of folks, and they're really a family."
Softball is just one of the sports Hope Inc. organizes for these athletes. Others including wheelchair basketball, soccer, and sled hockey.
The final score from Wednesday's game was 16-0 with Hope Inc. taking the win.
