UPDATE: Heavy police presence in West Fargo

WEST FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) UPDATE: Police say one man is in jail after a traffic stop turned into a short chase in West Fargo.

Authorities say they tried to pull over 28-year-old Robert Mitchel of Fargo for a broken headlight.

He wouldn't stop and took authorities on a short chase were speeds reached 40 mph.

Mitchel was eventually arrested for fleeing in a motor vehicle and cited for marijuana. Police also found a gun in his car.

A heavy police presence Sunday night had a neighborhood on alert, but there's not a lot of information coming from police just yet.

There were a number of squad cars and a K-9 team in the 100 block of 12th Street East in West Fargo around 11:30 p.m. A Valley News Live photographer says officers were searching two vehicles.

West Fargo Police say there's no danger to the public, but they're not giving out any details right now. The sergent on duty says there could be more information available later Monday.
