POLK COUNTY, Minn. (Valley News Live) - A Grand Forks man was arrested early Sunday after deputies said he fled from them on a snowmobile before crashing it near Fisher's Landing off Highway 2 in Minnesota.
44-year-old Joel Novak is facing fleeing charges after he and another snowmobiler ran when a Polk County deputy approached them at the rest stop around 3:30 a.m.
Novak was still in the area when the deputy tried to make contact a second time, which resulted in Novak operating the sled in a "reckless manner", according to deputies. A pursuit ensued for a short distance before Novak crashed the snowmobile.
