Grand Forks Mayor signs emergency declaration for city of Grand Forks

Grand Forks, ND – Today Grand Forks Mayor Michael R. Brown signed an Emergency Declaration for the City of Grand Forks in preparation for a top 5 historic spring flood.

“We know an emergency is coming, we know that the Red River is going to flood this spring.” Mayor Brown said. “This declaration is one of the first steps the city needs to take in order to be prepared. If a federal disaster is declared, this local the declaration puts us in line for any federal funds that may be available.”

This initial emergency declaration is in place for 30 days. The Grand Forks City Council can extend the declaration if needed.
