GF man charged for assaulting Altru ER nurse

A Grand Forks man is charged with one felony count of aggravated assault after court documents say he kicked an Altru ER nurse in the head, causing a complex concussion.

Court documents filed today say it all happened on Jan. 15 around 1 a.m., when 34-year-old Christopher Michael Rossi was admitted to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Documents go on to say that three Altru nurses were in Rossi's room to help administer a sedative to him, when Rossi became agitated and started to struggle.

Two nurses and security officers were holding down Rossi and court documents say Rossi started to fight back by kicking and spitting. At one point, Rossi's leg came loose and he kicked one of the nurses on the left side of the head.

The nurse told coworkers she had a headache and was dizzy, but she did not lose consciousness.

Documents say the next day, the ER nurse woke up with a worse headache, as well as a sore neck and dizziness. Her coworkers said she was out of it and confused.

When the doctor on duty examined the ER nurse, he said the nurse had suffered from a complex concussion. She was ordered to take the week off from work.

There is currently a warrant out for Rossi's arrest.
