Freightliner crashes into NDDOT snowplow on I-29 in Traill County

TRAILL COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) A Freightliner truck driver was cited for careless driving after rear-ending a North Dakota Department of Transportation snow plow, according to highway troopers.

The accident happened Thursday at 9:35 a.m. on I-29 northbound In Traill County about four miles south of Buxton.

North Dakota Highway Patrol stated the Freightliner’s 44-year-old driver was heading north when he was blinded by snow fog created by snow removal.

According to the release, he struck the rear of the NDDOT snowplow, which was an International Truck.

The snowplow operator only suffered minor injuries.

Both vehicles were damaged and the left-hand lane of northbound traffic was disrupted for about three hours, according to highway troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers stated the driver received a citation for careless driving-causing injury to an operator of snow removal equipment and/or damage exceeding $1000 to snow removal equipment.
