A downtown Fargo dumpster fire early Friday morning turned into a full building check and the discovery of a man in need of medical help.

It happened around 1 a.m. at the Graver Inn at 123 Roberts Street.

Fire crews put out a dumpster fire, then determined smoke had filtered up through the building from the garbage cans by way of a garbage chute.

While they were clearing smoke from the four-story building, they came upon an unresponsive man with a medical issue unrelated to the dumpster fire.

He was taken to the hospital -- no word on what happened or his condition.
