A basement fire temporarily forced out the people living inside a West Fargo home Friday afternoon.
The homeowner says she stopped off at home for lunch and saw the fire in the basement, near some electronics. The home is located at 437 3rd Ave East in West Fargo.
The woman was able to get her dog out safely before shutting the door and then calling 911. Although the fire was put out quickly, the smoke damage inside the home will take awhile to clean up.
"Right now, the house has smoke damage throughout the whole house, so it's going to be tens of thousands of dollars of damage," said Fire Chief Dan Fuller.
The Red Cross is helping the homeowner find a new place to stay and is also providing supplies like clothing.
