New tenants could be moving into the former Target building in Fergus Falls – and some of them are under the age of five.

Tuesday night, the Fergus Falls Public Schools’ School Board unanimously approved a letter of intent to purchase the building for $1.55 million. The administration has also been approved to conduct business relating to the purchase – such as financing, inspections, and legal services.

Superintendent Jerry Ness says the district initially looked for space to ‘lease to buy,’ but the 89,300 square foot Target building was available for purchase at significant savings.

The building will be used to house the school district’s Early Childhood Program, and the extra space could be used for future expansion and community partnerships.
