People living in a south Fargo neighborhood are breathing easier Wednesday night.

There's an end in sight to what many describe as a problem property on 18th St. S.

Police are searching for 32-year-old Amber Barrett, who is facing charges of child neglect and failure to report a death.

On November 16th at 3325 18th St. S, six young kids, some of them teenagers, called police and told them about a man they couldn't wake up.

It turned out Faruq Shahid was dead.

Authorities say Barrett and Shahid were staying here. Barrett woke up to find Shahid unresponsive on the floor.

Despite knowing he was dead, she left him with her two kids to go to work.

But it wasn't the first time police had been to the house.

In recent months, police had been called to the south Fargo home at least eight times.

For a disturbance, a stolen vehicle, many noise complaints and welfare checks and most recently, the overdose death of Faruq Shahid.

Neighbors shared their concerns about what they felt was drug activity in the house.

Many saying they knew something was up, but didn't know what to do.

"We always want you to call about suspicious activity as it's happening," Jessica Schindeldecker with the Fargo Police says.

Schindeldecker says this isn't the only troubled house in town and it's not an easy situation for neighbors to deal with, adding that they want to help.

"The best way to get information to our officers to check on suspicious activity is to call dispatch to have and officer sent out," Schindeldecker says. "Officers do their best to keep your name anonymous and who you are anonymous."

If you are feeling uneasy or worried that your call may come back to haunt you, there is another option.

You can text their tip line, however, police say, it's not as fast.

There's a warrant out for Barrett's arrest. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
