Fargo Marathon Director Mark Knutson says The Sanford Fargo Marathon has been sold to a national company called Rugged Races.
Knutson says Rugged Races approached their Board of Directors with a really good proposal they could not turn down. Knutson adds that this deal will also be great funding for their charitable programs.
Knutson admits that participation numbers for the marathon are down, but says that is not the only reason for the buy. "We are usually at 22,000 to 23,000 participants but we have been leveling off around 18 to 19,000" Knutson says.
Knutson says almost everything will stay the same including the race committee. Knutson says really the only change runners will see is in the swag, adding that the shirts might be a little nicer.
