Driver will now have access to Highway 117 as it is set to reopen at 9 a.m.

Detroit Lakes, Minn -- The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol will reopen Highway 117, southwest of Wheaton between Highway 21 and the Minnesota/South Dakota border, at 9 a.m. on April 15th.

The road was closed last week because of flooding and rising water levels on Lake Traverse and the Mustinka River. The water has receded off the roadway.

While it may be clear now, MnDOT cautions motorists to be alert for the potential of road flooding throughout west central Minnesota. Additional forecasts predict precipitation and the snow packs are continuing to melt. Highways could be closed at times if water becomes a safety hazard.
