A celebration not only for the holidays, but also for people whose lives were turned around.

Down Home held its second annual Christmas party.

The non-profits mission is to provide for families transitioning from homelessness into housing.

Some of those families who were helped out this year, stopped by and received a Christmas tree package for their new homes. Christmas Tree packages included a tree, lights, tree skirt, tree topper, extension cord, ornaments and a container for the storage.

Alex Reber, a new Dilworth resident was on hand opening presents and decorating stockings with her 6 year old son. Reber says their family Christmas was made even more special this year with help from Down Home.

“To be able to have a bed for my son to sleep in...and a very comfortable bed for my son to sleep in and room that was filled with books and toys and everything, "said Reber. " It has absolutely given me peace of mind and security. "

Down Home serves families in Cass and Clay County, and has served 48 families impacting about 151 lives.
