Dog digs up human skull in Rolette County

It is a real life cold case -- and now the FBI is investigating. A dog discovered a human skull and now cops may be looking for a killer in Rolette County.

Just miles from the Peace Garden, laid a gruesome surprise.

"I stood back and I froze for a bit, I didn't know what to do. I was scared, confused, shocked. No words can describe what a person goes through when they see something like that," said Shireen Bursinger.

A couple weeks ago, Bursinger went outside to warm up her car before work when something caught her eye.

"I looked over and I didn't think nothing of it. I thought it was just one of my Halloween props. So, I turned around and I glanced at it again and it turns out to be a human skull," Bursinger said.

One of their five dogs found a human skull and brought it to their front door.

"My dog started playing with it. And then I ran inside, woke up my husband, told him what it was and he told me to call the cops."

Bursinger says law enforcement came and took the skull and other bones that were found in some nearby woods. The FBI is now investigating the case. Sources say foul play is suspected in the case but the FBI would not confirm that.

The FBI often takes over homicide investigations when they happen on tribal land. The skull was found on Tribal Land.
