Del Monte plant in Sleepy Eye set to close, lay off 363 workers

SLEEPY EYE, Minn. (KARE) — The Del Monte plant in Sleepy Eye is set to close, and will lay off 363 workers, according to to the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

The permanent closure will take place after the current packing season, which is set to end around Oct. 21.

Sixty-nine full-time employees and 294 seasonal employees will lose their jobs at the peas and corn canning facility.

There is no union representing the affected employees.
