Monday world-class hockey star and three time Stanley Cup winner Matt Cullen was back home in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

Cullen and his wife Bridget visited the new section of the Sanford Hospital that bears his name.

It’s Called "Cully’s Kids Cabin" and it’s a space specially designed to help kids feel like kids despite any medical challenges that may be facing.

The playroom even though it’s five times larger than the current playroom there, it has a cozy warm cabin look with many amenities to help kids temporarily forget about being sick and concentrate on just being kids.

Cullen and his wife donated $1 million dollars to the project and with those funds the room is filled with arts, crafts and of course it has a strong hockey theme.

“No kid should go through what a lot of these kids are going through, and it's really nice to be able to help provide a space where they can just be kids, and forget about what they're fighting for a while,” said Cullen.

Sanford Hospital plans to hold an open house for the public to get a look of the new addition on Thursday.
