A new facility for families with children in the hospital is one beam closer to completion.

Fargo’s Ronald McDonald House will open up a brand new location to replace its two previous ones. Supporters signed the final beam while construction awaits strong winds to raise it up.

The new 30-thousand square feet house will have 24 bedrooms. Executive director, Jill Christopher, says that will double its capacity and improve the experience for families.

"So this really gives us a chance to take the things that weren't ideal with our current locations and build something that would really make it comfortable for our families,” Christopher said. “So private bedrooms with bathrooms in each bedroom, we'll have an elevator for families with mobility challenges."

The facility offers services to any family visiting the Fargo area for their child's medical treatment. It opens its doors to visitors on May 8.
