Commitee Chairman requests review of border wall contract
The Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, Bennie Thompson, sent the Department of Defense Deputy Inspector General a request to review a contract awarded to a North Dakota-based company to build a portion of the border wall.
In the letter, Representative Thompson of Mississippi says President Donald Trump personally urged the Army Corps of Engineers to award the $400 million contract to Fisher Sand and Gravel Company despite the company's prototype project coming in late and over budget.
Thompson lists reasons why the actions raise concerns about possible inappropriate influence on the contracting decision.
KFYR in Bismarck has requested a comment from Fisher Industries and are waiting for a response.
