Cedar Lake Casino breaks world record with Fry Bread taco

Cass Lake, MN--- Cedar Lakes Casino – Hotel, set the Guinness Book World Record for the largest frybread taco at approximately 5 pm on Saturday, August 10th, 2019. Mike Marcotte, Guinness Book official Adjudicator was on site to announce and make it an official Guinness World Record. Without the taco toppings, the fry bread alone weighed in at 150.2 pounds and was 8’ in diameter.

Over 500 guests attended the Guinness Book record-setting event and enjoyed a piece of the monstrous fry bread taco.

The ingenious frybread cooker was designed and built by Bruce & Jeff Baird, owners of Cass Metal Craft, also located in Cass Lake, MN.

Earlier in the year, a Frybread Recipe Cookoff was held, for Leech Band members, in order to select the best fry bread recipe for the Guinness record-setting event. The contest winner was Tana Robinson. Besides the fry bread taco event, her fry bread is also served at Cedar Lake’s Casino Pub 33 food & bar venue.

Cedar Lakes and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe are already making plans to set or break another Guinness Book World Record during their 1st-year-anniversary celebration in 2020.
