ORIGINAL: West Fargo Fire Department has confirmed that at least one firefighter is being treated for heat exhaustion after fighting a fire at a grain elevator on Saturday.

Officials say crews were on scene for roughly 18 hours as they arrived to the fire at about 4:30 a.m. and left the scene around 10:30 p.m.

Firefighters remained on scene battling hot spots during this time according to officials. They said they were able to knock down a lot of the fire relatively quickly with the help of the Fargo Fire Department. It was the hot spots that kept crews on scene as they had to cut openings to access many areas.

Officials say this was a difficult fire as it is a large area with limited access and very unstable.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
