Body of missing UMD student pulled from water

(KARE/NBC)- The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says crews pulled the body of a missing UMD student out of the water in Canal Park Friday.

The student, 21-year-old Jacob Lavoie of Inver Grove Heights, was last seen leaving Grandma's Sports Garden early Sunday morning.

KARE's sister station in Duluth, KBJR, reports that his body was pulled from the Minnesota Slip boat channel around 3 p.m. Friday.

Lavoie was majoring in Business and Marketing and was expected to graduate in the next year or two.

No further information has been released.
