Body found after fire put out in rural Winger, Minnesota

RURAL WINGER, Minn. (Valley News Live) -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office discovered a body when it responded to reports of a fire at a shop on Saturday night.

When fire departments arrived on the scene at 18354 460th St. SE in rural Winger, Minnesota, they found two fires -- one at a shop and one at a residence.

Once the fire was put out, a body was discovered in the residence. The body was taken to the UND Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

The fires are under investigation, and officials said foul play was not suspected in the death.

Responding agencies included fire departments from Winger, Fertile, Erskine, Mahnomen and Gary.
