NBC - Eating a high fiber diet, can help reduce the risk of serious illness, and death.
That's according to a new study from the World Health Organization.
It showed people who ate at least 25 grams of fiber a day had significantly lower rates of heart disease, diabetes and colon cancer than those who ate less.
They also had a 30 percent lower risk of dying from any cause.
The average american consumes just 15 grams of fiber a day.
