Becker County Sheriff's Office ask for help in finding suspect in fatal shooting

UPDATE: The Becker County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a suspect in the shooting that happened in Maple Grove Township in rural Becker County on June 9th.

18-year-old Ronald Wayne Elias Thompson III of Detroit Lakes is being sought in connection with the investigation. Deputies say Thompson is known to carry firearms and currently has felony warrants for firearms and parole violations.

If you see Thompson or have any information as to where he is, you are asked to call 911 or the Becker County Sheriff's Office at 218-847-2661.

ORIGINAL: The Becker County Sheriff's Office is identifying the individual who died as a result of this shooting as Jamie Lee Blevins Jr, age 27. Blevins has been sent to Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy. This case is still under investigation.

On June 9, 2019, at approximately 3:17 a.m., Becker County Sheriff's deputies and White Earth Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in Maple Grove Township, approximately 20 miles northeast of Detroit Lakes. An adult male is deceased as a result of the shooting. The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The incident does not appear to be random and it is believed that there is not a threat to the public at this time. If anyone has any information related to this incident, please contact the Becker County Sheriff's Office at 218-847-2661 or the White Earth Police Department at 218-983-3201.

The MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office, West Central Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force, Paul Bunyan Task Force and Headwater Safe Trails Task Force are assisting with the investigation. White Earth Ambulance and St. Mary's EMS also responded to the incident.
