FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - Several partygoers say they had a horrible experience at what’s considered one of Fargo’s oldest bars, so they contacted our Whistleblower Hotline.
Genevieve Meneses was with a group of people Monday night at Bismarck Tavern. They were celebrating a birthday when they noticed something fell from above.
“One person looked up and said there was a big hole and the server said yeah,” Meneses said.
Initially, she said the server brushed them off and told them not to concern themselves about it.
Later as the bar was closing, she said water fell from the ceiling spilling on everyone at the table and it looks as if a piece of tile also broke off.
“We don't know what kind of water spilt on us, so we don't know if it was the water from the roof,” Meneses said. “We don't know if it was plumbing water because I guess there's apartments above there.”
One of Meneses's friends was completely soaked in water.
She said what bothered them the most was that they were kicked out without being offered any help.
“When we were asking them for assistance, or anything, they just brushed it off and started telling everyone it was time to go at that point,” Meneses said.
Bismarck Tavern declined commenting on this incident.
The bar is considered one of the oldest in Fargo.
We obtained its most recent health inspection records, which were done last July, and found one unrelated violation.
According to the city of Fargo, the last time a structural inspection was done at the Bismarck was 10 years ago. At the time, the bar was considering doing a construction project, which it ended up abandoning.
