Animal Rescue: kitten shot 7 times with lead pellets, video attached
CATS Cradle Shelter has taken in another cat they say someone shot near Hankinson. This time they were contacted by someone who found four kittens under a shed.
The momma cat was killed and one of the kittens was injured. CATS Cradle Shelter executive director Gail Adams-Ventzke says, “You know we cannot let a kitten suffer, so of course we took them. We were shocked and horrified at what we found. This abuse must stop now!”
The 6-week old kitten, named Mavis was shot seven times with lead pellets that showed up on her x-rays, according to Adams-Ventzke. She says Mavis is in stable but guarded condition. “We will see how she does over the next 24 hours with medication to control pain and antibiotics. Hopefully her spine can recover from the shock and the fact that there were no visible damage to her spine, she has feeling in her legs and can move them a little gives us hope. Please pray for her.”
In the video attached to this article, posted by Adams-Ventzke you can see Mavis dragging the lower half of her body as she tries to get around.

Adams-Ventzke also has an update on a cat they rescued back in April after they say she was shot at close range by someone who intentionally wanted to inflict pain and suffering on her. They are trying to raise money for Bebe to get her a wheelchair. It will cost $250.00 through K9 Carts. “Despite her limitations, she is one of the happiest and most loving kitties ever. She did not lose her trust in humanity. Let’s open up her world and let her become mobile again.”
