ATV accident kills two people

MENTOR, Minn. (Valley News Live) UPDATE: Police have now released the names of two people killed when they were thrown from an ATV.

The Polk County Sheriff's office tells Valley News Live that 34-year-old Noel Schmieg of Mentor and 34-year-old Crystal Scott of Crookston were riding the ATV.

Emergency crews say the victims were unconscious when they arrived, but died a short time later.

Officials say they are still trying to figure out what happened.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two people are dead after being thrown from their ATV in a horrific accident. The Polk county sheriff's office tells Valley News Live that a 34 year-old man and a 34 year-old woman were riding the ATV when the accident happened. Emergency crews say the man and woman were not awake when they arrived. They died a short time later. Names have not been released and officials say they are still trying to figure out what happened. No word as to whether or not the two were wearing helmets when the accidents occurred.
