Hundreds lose power in Horace area early Friday morning

HORACE, N.D. (Valley News Live) UPDATE (1:30 p.m.): Cass County Electric says power has now been restored for all customers.

The outage was caused by an underground fault on a cable, which damaged equipment at the substation.

The outage left some homes without power for more than 11 hours.

UPDATE : As of 11:30 Friday morning, crews are still in the field working to repair the underground fault.

There are 39 remaining affected accounts.

ORIGINAL: Repair crews were called out early Friday morning to fix a power outage that put hundreds of customers in the Horace area in the dark.

Cass County Electric says the problem started about 2:00 a.m. knocking out electricity to an estimated 826 members.

CCE says the outage was caused by a problem in an underground line and a broken breaker.

Repairs have been slowly bringing customers back online but as of 9:30 Friday morning there were still more than 200 without power.
