5 children taken to hospital after school bus crash in MN

Near Grand Rapids, Minn. (Valley News Live) Five children were taken to the hospital after a pickup crashed into a school bus.

Minnesota State Patrol says it happened Wednesday morning around 8:30 on Highway 169 just south of Grand Rapids.

Authorities say a pickup driven by 49-year-old Shawn Mcdowell of Grand Rapids got out of his lane with the intention of turning, but then decided against it and went back. That's when he crashed into the school bus.

The bus had 32 children and three adults on board. None of the adults were injured and the driver of the pickup was not injured.

The children taken to the hospital are expected to be ok. The crash report did not say whether any citations were issued.
