GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) UPDATE: 31 year old man faces several charges, including DUI, after crashing into a Grand Forks Police Officer and another car carrying two children.

Shortly after 7:00 pm on Monday, a three-car crash happened just west of South Columbia Road on 17th Ave South.

One of the vehicles involved was a Grand Forks Police Department vehicle.

A short time before the crash, a vehicle was reported as driving erratically and recklessly in the area of Park Ave and South Washington St.

According to Police, witnesses saw a dark green 2005 Dodge Caravan, driven by 31-year-old Bradley Bruce of Emerado, leave the area westbound on 17th Ave South at a high rate of speed.

Officer Kyle Misialek, Grand Forks Police Department, was on-duty and driving a marked patrol vehicle.

He was stopped at the red light at 17th Ave South and South Columbia Road.

When the light turned green, Officer Misialek went through the intersection. Once through the intersection, Bruce passed Officer Misialek on the right, and swerved into the marked patrol vehicle, initiating a collision and sending the patrol vehicle off the roadway and into a pole.

The Caravan then struck an eastbound black 2014 Honda Pilot, driven by 34-year-old Cassie Lowney of Grand Forks, nearly head-on.

The Pilot was also occupied by two small children. The occupants of all three vehicles were transported to Altru for medical attention. None of the injuries sustained appear to be life-threatening.

Bradley Bruce is being charged with Aggravated Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment and Driving Under the Influence.

The Grand Forks Police Department responded to the crash in addition to the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office, the University of North Dakota Police Department, the United States Border Patrol, the Grand Forks Fire Department and Altru Ambulance.

The crash is still under active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call the Grand Forks Police Department.
