2 injured during crash in Devils Lake

(Devils Lake, ND) -- Around 12:00 a.m. on September 9th, Ramsey County Deputies responded to a vehicle rollover in the 4900 block of 82nd Street NE, just north of Devils Lake. The vehicle ran off the roadway, rolled and the driver was ejected and landed approximately 30 feet from the vehicle.

Passenger, 30-year-old James Raynor Jr. from West Fargo, was wearing his seat belt and crawled out of the window. He found the driver, 22-year-old Evan Volk from Devils Lake, and tried to wake him. Volk did wake up and attempted to flee the scene. However, a Ramsey County Deputy was able to apprehend him.

Upon investigating the crash, Volk was arrested for DUI and it was determined that he was not wearing a seat belt.

Both Volk and Raynor were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Later Volk was flown to Grand Forks Altru Hospital for more serious injuries.

The crash is still under investigation.
