WADENA COUNTY, Minn. (Valley News Live) - One person was transported by helicopter to a Fargo hospital after suffering injuries in a snowmobile crash.

The accident happened in Wadena County on Sunday at around noon on a snowmobile trail south of Wadena County Road 9 in Rockwood Township, according to a media release by the sheriff's office.

Wadena County deputies identified the victim as Curtis Heikkenen, 55, of Perham.

According to deputies, Heikkenen and several other snowmobilers were traveling east on a groomed snowmobile trail.

The 55 year old veered off course and lost control, which caused his snowmobile to rollover multiple times and eventually land on him.

Deputies said Heikkenen suffered cuts to his face and he complained of pain throughout his body.

He was transported by helicopter to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.
