FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) The flood fight of 2019 takes a major step forward today.
The city of Fargo is asking the community to help reach their goal of filling one million sandbags to prepare for the possible major flood.
People are asked to sign up to help.
As in 2009, a Fargo flood volunteer website allows the people to see where assistance is needed to ensure the sandbag-filling ‘spiders’ are running at full capacity.
The website, www.FargoND.gov/FloodVolunteers, can be used both by individuals and groups in deciding when to volunteer.
200 volunteers are needed at all times.
People are encouraged to call the Fargo Sandbag Central Hotline at 701.476.4000.
Fargo Sandbag Central will open at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26th.
Operations will continue on a 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekday schedule until the one million sandbag goal has been achieved.
Sandbag Central is located at 2301 8th Avenue North in Fargo.
