TJ Eck took over as Sports Director at WHSV in February of 2018 after spending the first five years of his television career in Nebraska. Prior to working at WHSV, TJ spent two years as the Weekend Sports Anchor at KOLN in Lincoln, Nebraska where he primarily covered the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Big Ten athletics, the College World Series, and high school sports. TJ started his career in Western Nebraska as a News/Sports Reporter for KNPL in North Platte, NE before becoming the Sports Director at nearby KNOP.
TJ graduated from Juniata College (Huntingdon, PA) in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Communication. He played NCAA Division III baseball for four years at JC. After graduating from Juniata, TJ attended Syracuse University and earned a master's degree in Broadcast & Digital Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in the summer of 2013. TJ is a native of Columbia, Pennsylvania and attended Lancaster Catholic High School.
When he's not covering a JMU or high school sporting event in the Shenandoah Valley, TJ enjoys watching his favorite sports teams (Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Chiefs), watching movies, and spending time outdoors hiking or golfing.
