Jacob joined the KFYR-TV news team in May 20, 2019. And the reason he knows the exact day is because that’s the anniversary of Johnny Carson retiring from The Tonight Show.
Jacob was born and raised in a town called Savage, MN. He graduated from Burnsville Senior High School where he lettered in three varsity sports: football, lacrosse, and girls’ basketball (he was a student manager for all three).
He began following North Dakota politics when he started attending the University of North Dakota where he double majored in Communication and Political Science. During his studies, he was part of the final casts of journalists for the student-run news show Studio One and later became a writer for The Dakota Student.
Jacob has always had a strong passion for television and using his “radio voice.” But after graduating from UND in 2018, he went behind the camera to be the video production intern for his hometown Minnesota Wild.
Now, Jacob leads political coverage for the entire state of North Dakota, including covering the state legislature, elections, and connecting the decisions of Washington, D.C., to your community.
If you don’t see Jacob at the Capitol, you can find him announcing for the Bismarck Larks, working on his cooking skills, or laughing “too loud” at his own jokes.
