Deadly downtown Fargo shooting sparks community outcry
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -Around 1:56 a.m. on Sunday, 20-year-old Tyrque Jones allegedly shot three individuals, killing one of them — identified as Azeem Holmes — in downtown Fargo.
According to a Fargo Police Department press conference, Jones fled the scene on foot and has not yet been located. Authorities say he is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him. Instead, contact Fargo Police immediately.
This latest act of violence has sparked strong emotions and growing concern within the community.
Fargo resident Lao Buckner witnessed the altercation prior to the shooting.
Buckner says that the incident started with arguing and then it escalated shortly after.
“They were at the door, and I’m on the little gate. People came up yelling stuff, they went over there, they came back, and he came up,” said Buckner.
Fargo Police say an ongoing feud between the individuals may have led to the shooting, though the exact motive remains unknown.
“The shooters, the suspects, or the victims. They are not just random people attacking random people. They had their own little issues,” said Buckner.
Lao went on to say that a lot of shots were fired and that there could have been more people hurt in Sunday’s shooting.
“It could have been kids out, even though it was that hour. It could’ve been kids out there, somebody’s car could’ve been hit or ricocheted. Bullets don’t got no name,” said Buckner.
If you have any information, be sure to call Fargo police.
