North Dakota murder suspect arrested in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) says they arrested a 30-year-old Fort Wayne man wanted in connection with a man’s shooting death in North Dakota.
FWPD says they were contacted by detectives from the Minot, North Dakota police department in December for help finding murder suspect Quantdre Octavious Mersier. Police say the man was wanted for a Nov. 17 shooting in Minot that resulted in the death of 29-year-old Ansu Kamara.
On April 4, police say they got an anonymous tip that the suspect was back in Fort Wayne. Detectives say they started surveillance and tracked down Mersier, later taking him into custody without incident.
Mersier was charged locally with failure to appear, carrying a handgun without a license, prohibited person in possession of a handgun, and the Class AA felony murder warrant out of North Dakota. He was booked into the Allen County Jail as he awaits extradition to Minot, North Dakota.
