UPDATE: Toddler, adult killed in Fargo apartment fire

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - An adult and a child are dead after a fire broke out in a Fargo apartment building.

Authorities say on Friday, June 2 they responded to the 4300 block of 10th Ave. S. for smoke in the second-floor hallway. When crews arrived, they found a fire in a second story apartment unit.

When officials searched the apartment, they found two people inside and rushed them to the hospital. The two people eventually died from their injuries.

The two people are identified as 26-year-old Jose Tellez and 3-year-old SerenityRae Zamarron. Zamarron died on June 2, Tellez died on June 3.

The causes of death are being investigated by the Cass County Coroner’s Office and the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No other unit was affected in the fire and damage is estimated at $40,000.
